Life on Campus at Carleton University

At Carleton University we recognize that attending classes is only one part of your university experience and so we provide numerous activities and opportunities for you to make the most of our beautiful campus and engage with our diverse community.

Our campus is a lively place with 27,000 students and 2000 faculty and staff. There are numerous amenities on site catering for this array of people including a bank, post office and convenience store. The University Centre is one of the most active parts of our campus with coffee shops where you can meet friends, a bookstore and food court for vital purchases and various offices serving our community.

We also offer more than 200 active clubs and societies so you can make friends and pursue interests beyond the classroom. Carleton is also pleased to arrange special events and lectures or facilitate your involvement in community outreach programs. There are also plenty of options to stay healthy including an indoor running track, squash and tennis courts, 50 metre pool, soccer stadium, ice arena, saunas and gymnasiums.

Another excellent way of making friends at Carleton and really experience all our community has to offer is the popular option of living in residence. Our residence buildings are conveniently located for you to access classes, meals, workouts or meet friends. Our residences are also useful in helping students transition to university life with various support services and organized social events. Residential options include a double traditional room with shared washroom facilities, single rooms, and suites for four people with a shared common area, washroom and small food preparation area. Meal plans are offered in our residence options. An off campus housing listing service is also available.
